Hakan Isik

Suspected Palm Springs serial rapist facing more felony charges

More victims were revealed and criminal charges were added against a man accused of a violent sexual assault in Palm Springs last year.

Hakan Isik, the man charged in the Palm Springs dating sexual assault case, was scheduled to be back in court on Friday but that hearing was pushed back to April 11 at the defense’s request.

News Channel 3 learned on Friday that Isik, a 56-year-old from Desert Hot Springs, now faces 8 felony counts and four misdemeanor counts. The original criminal complaint filed by the Riverside County District Attorney showed that he had been facing 4 felonies and 4 misdemeanors.

Isik did not issue a plea to these charges on Friday but is expected to do so in April.

New documents obtained by News Channel 3 show that there are also two additional unnamed victims in the case. That brings the total number of victims listed to 7.

One man who spoke with News Channel 3 said Isik drugged and assaulted him in a hotel room while he was visiting Palm Springs. The two met on a dating app, and the man was subjected to a brutal rape, burning, beating, and biting.

“It was clear to me that I was not the only one just because of the sort of behavior that he, the way he acted. This wasn’t a one-off; this was who he was,” he said.

This is a case that News Channel 3 has been following closely since before Isik was arrested in May 2023.

If convicted on all counts, Isik faces life in prison. He remains in custody on $1 million bail.
