Said Benrahma: West Ham accept loan offer from Lyon

Said BenrahmaBenrahma signed for West Ham from Brentford in 2020, in a deal rising to £30m

West Ham have accepted an offer from Lyon to sign winger Said Benrahma on loan until the end of the season.

If the deal goes through, it would include an obligation to buy for £15m, with the final decision now in the 28-year-old Algerian’s hands.

Benrahma joined West Ham from Brentford in October 2020 and his current deal runs to 2026.

But he has been an inconsistent performer during his three years with the Hammers.

He started last season’s Europa Conference League final against Fiorentina and scored the opening goal from the penalty spot in West Ham’s momentous 2-1 win.

However, Benrahma has failed to find the net in 22 appearances this season and was sent off in the FA Cup replay defeat at Bristol City on 16 January.

He was controversially left out of Algeria’s squad for the Africa Cup of Nations tournament.

Meanwhile, West Ham have rejected a bid from Real Betis for Spain midfielder Pablo Fornals.

A second offer is expected, with West Ham willing to let Fornals leave given he has started just four Premier League games this season.
