Modernism Week begins Thursday, February 15.
The festival celebrates mid century modern styles, and displays architectural works from the 1950s to the 1960s.
The 11-day festival is hosting over 400 events, including home tours, bus tours, walking tours, a classic car show, vintage shopping, and seminars.
There are 35 neighborhoods to tour, with homes such as the House of Tomorrow and Wexler ’54 on display.
The festival also hosts free events such as the Modernism Week yard sale, the car show, and lectures.
“There’s something for everybody,” said Bob Bogard, communications director of the event. “And there is something for every budget.”
Palm Springs is renowned for its architectural tourism. Bogard notes that people from all over the world visit the Valley to explore mid-century modern styles.
“Last year, we hosted more than 100,000 people,” said Bogard. “We are definitely going to surpass last year’s numbers.”
The event brings an economic boost to the community.
“The festival has an estimated economic impact of over $55 million,” said Bogard.
