Florida man dies after Valentine’s Day crash on I-10 near Cactus City

A 66-year-old from Florida died from his injuries days after a crash on Interstate 10 near Cactus City.

The crash happened on Wednesday at around 6:45 a.m. on the Eastbound I-10, west of the Cactus City rest stop.

A 40-foot tanker filled with lemon juice overturned on the highway.

A Sigalert was issued shortly and authorities had to request assistance to siphon out the lemon juice due to the tanker being compromised.

Joel Grimes, 66, of Lake Whales, Florida was hospitalized after the crash. He was pronounced dead on Monday, just after noon.

The California Highway Patrol continues to investigate the crash.
