Police are on the lookout for a man who they say officers took into custody after he stole a vehicle but then got away.
Cathedral City police say officers spotted a stolen vehicle off Avendia Quintana around 11:30 a.m. Saturday morning.
They reportedly also found the suspect and arrested him.
He was then taken to Desert Regional Medical Center for medical clearance, but somehow got away on foot.
A sheriff’s helicopter assisted in the search but officials were unable to find the suspect.
We are told he is not considered a danger to the public.
Cathedral City Police say they will be filing charges with the District Attorney’s office.

We’re following new developments on a suspect search that unfolded Saturday afternoon in Palm Springs.
We have learned Palm Springs Police assisted with the search that happened nearby Desert Regional.
Investigators confirm this was related to a stolen vehicle incident.
The scene was cleared before 3:20 p.m. this afternoon.
We have reached out to Cathedral City’s Police Department and we are awaiting a response.
There is no word yet on arrests.
