Attic fire displaces 2 adults, 2 children from La Quinta home

Two adults and two children were displaced today from their home in La Quinta after their attic caught fire.

Fire crews responded at 8:26 a.m. Wednesday to a report of a residential structure fire in the 47000 block of Sumac Court, according to the Riverside County Fire Department.

“Firefighters are on scene of a single-story family dwelling with a well-established fire in the attic,” fire officials wrote in a statement shortly before 9 a.m. “Utilities have been requested.”

By 10:26 a.m., fire officials said that the fire was contained and no injuries were reported, but two adults and two children were receiving assistance from the American Red Cross due to being displaced from the home.

The cause of the fire was not immediately known.
