Suspect in custody following police chase that ended in North Miami

MIAMI-DADE COUNTY, Fla. – Authorities took a man into custody after he led officers on a dangerous chase Friday afternoon.

According to police, the suspect in a stolen Dodge pickup truck fled from Broward Sheriff’s Office deputies and entered Miami-Dade County.

Sky 10 flew above the scene where the suspect was seen speeding past a school bus in the stolen vehicle.

The chase eventually ended in the front yard of a home at the intersection of 131st Street and Sixth Avenue in North Miami. That’s where the suspect bailed out of his gray pickup truck and tried to run off.

He was apprehended a short distance away.

The Ring doorbell camera from the home where the chase ended captured the suspect bailing out of the passenger side door of the truck.

“I went inside and I was putting the groceries in my kitchen, and that’s when I heard that happen,” said homeowner Jhoanna Besdweder. “I feel like God protected me in that moment.”

During the chase, the suspect reportedly hit several vehicles.

Sky 10 was over the scene when the suspect was taken into custody by officers.

Authorities were also seen searching for a backpack that the suspect allegedly tossed away at some point during the chase.
