There are new developments in a missing persons story out of the High Desert.

An attorney associated with the case told CBS 8 in San Diego that human remains, believed to be those of missing Chinese tourist Fang Jin, were found in the Anza-Borrego Desert.

The attorney told CBS 8 that they had been found on Saturday.

CBS 8 also reported that remains believed to be those of ex-Navy Seal John Fitzpatrick were found by a camper on September 17 in Harper Canyon in Anza-Borrego.

Fang met Fitzpatrick on social media and flew into Palm Springs in July to meet Fitzpatrick in person and tour the desert area.

The attorney describes their relationship as “romantic.”

The San Diego County Medical Examiner’s office told CBS 8 has not positively identified either set of remains. Though CBS 8 reports, that the families of both Fitzpatrick and Jin have been notified of the discoveries.
