Sami Valimaki beat Jorge Campillo in a play-off to win the Qatar Masters in Doha as Scott Jamieson retained his DP World Tour card for next season.

Jamieson began the final event of the regular season 119th in the Race to Dubai rankings, needing to finish inside the top 116 to secure his card.

The Scot, 39, achieved that comfortably by carding a final round 69 to move up to 82nd in the season-long rankings.

Finland’s Valimaki and former champion Campillo of Spain finished on 18 under.

Valimaki sealed victory with a birdie at the first play-off hole to claim his second DP World Tour title.

“Unbelievable. It’s hard to talk. It’s been a long journey and it feels great,” Valimaki said.

Florida-based Jamieson has held his card for 13 consecutive seasons, with a career-best finish of 26th in 2017.

Five birdies on the back nine a tie for third ensured he ended the tournament tied third on 16 under, level with Spaniard Ignacio Elvira.

England’s Jordan Smith finished fifth after a final round 68 took him to 15 under, one shot ahead of compatriot Joshua Grenville-Wood and Scotland’s Robert MacIntyre.
